CLI Language Reference
Command Syntax Descriptions
Command Syntax Descriptions
This reference manual uses “side headings” and tables to describe the various CLI commands and how
they work. Headings appear immediately to the left of each command or description and are often
followed by tables providing additional information.
Name: Provides name of the CLI command
Purpose: Describes purpose of the CLI command
Category: Security, Provisioning, or Maintenance
Security: Level 1 (manager), Level 2 (operator), or Level 3 (monitor)
Syntax: Describes command syntax or structure. This is usually followed by a table describing
the allowable field values that can be used in the command. Some commands do not
have have additional fields.
Bold type indicates actual commands.
Italic type indicates variables for which the operator must substitute actual values
The < and > symbols are used to enclose settings, as in <address>, but are never used
when entering commands
Vertical rules are used to separate two or more valid settings, as in <on|off>
Example: Provides examples of how a complete command would look when typed by the
operator.
Message: Provides a sample message produced by the command. This is usually followed by a
table describing various items in the message.
