Overview
TFTP Requirements
The Controller update software file must be located on a TFTP file server accessible by both the
Telnet management terminal and the Access Navigator. Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP)
allows a file to be sent over a network by specifying the server IP address and file name or path
name. Using an RS-232 or Telnet management session, the operator sends a CLI “load tftp”
command to the Access Navigator, specifying the location of the TFTP server and update file. TFTP
server capabilities, including time-out settings, must match the bandwidth of the network being
used. Depending on the file size and network speed, the file transfer may take several minutes.
Event Log
During the software update process, the two Controller cards will momentarily be operating with
different software. The Access Navigator event log will contain an entry stating that one of the
Controllers is Incompatible. This message is normal and can be ignored if both Controllers are
updated with the same software.
