Features and Benefits
Features and Benefits
The Access Navigator / GR-303 with P-Phone is a transport element that combines the functions of a
GR-303 digital terminal, 32-port T1 digital crossconnect system, T1 channel/data service unit (CSU), T1
diagnostic test equipment, and Access Bank® II host controller into a modular chassis 1½ rack units high.
Ethernet SNMP, optional redundancy, and modular T1 expansion provide carrier-class service protection
and management at either carrier or customer located T1 service access points.
Access Navigator / GR-303 Host with P-Phone offers an integration of:
l 32 T1 port GR-303 remote digital terminal
l GR-303 to TR-08 translation for CA’s Access Bank® I/TR-08
l GR-303 Direct Inward Dial (DID) support when used with Lucent 5ESS switches
l P-Phone (EBS) support with GR-303 voice concentration when used with Nortel DMS switches and
remote Adit 600 terminals equipped with P-Phone service cards

GR-303 Services
The Access Navigator / GR-303 Host with P-Phone provides T1 local voice, P-Phone, and data services to
multiple customers (Figure 4-3). Using GR-303 switching protocol for call concentration, the Access
Navigator reduces recurring backhaul transmission costs and switch port costs by up to a factor of 4.
By using CA's Access Bank® II and Adit 600 products at the customer premise, an end-to-end distributed
voice and data digital loop carrier and remote management system is provided. Standard T1 connections
from customer PBXs and key systems may be concentrated or bypassed from the GR-303 groups.
The power of a 32 T1 port voice and data switch/concentrator and remote service management system is
contained in only 1½ rack units of space. Integrated testing and optional common equipment redundancy
assure carrier-class service availability.
CA's Access Navigator / GR-303 Host with P-Phone, together with the Access Bank II and Adit 600, bring
cost-effective concentration and remote management to competitive local carriers with a new level of
serviceability and space efficiency.
