Maintenance Procedures
Replace Quad T1 Framer Card
Verify Equipment Status
1. Start management session, if not already logged on.
2. Display clock source assignments by entering the following command:
show clock
A message similar to the following will appear.
Primary Master Transmit Clock Source: DS1 12
Secondary Master Transmit Clock Source: INTERNAL
3. Set all four DS1 circuits on QF card out of service to prevent alarms with the following command,
where <n> is a range of four DS1 numbers such as 9-12:
set ds1 <n> down
Example: set ds1 9-12 down
4. If no DS1s are used as a primary or secondary clock source on the Quad T1 Framer card to be
removed, skip to Remove Front Cover on page 16-22.
Temporarily Move Clock Sources (if required)
1. Record original clock source assignments so they can be restored later.
NOTE: In the following two steps, the temporary clock source should be of equal or
higher Stratum clock level, such as from a central office switch. In Access Navigators with
the GR-303 option, the status ds1 all command will list the status of “switch” type DS1s
as “In Service.”
2. Move primary clock source (if any) to a DS1 on a different QF card with the following command,
where <n> is the DS1 number:
set clock1 ds1 <n>
Example: set clock1 ds1 25
3. Move secondary clock source (if any) to a DS1 on a different QF card with the following command,
where <n> is the DS1 number:
set clock2 ds1 <n>
Example: set clock2 ds1 29
4. Verify clock source settings with the following command, where <n> is the DS1 number:
show clock
A message similar to the following will appear.
Primary Master Transmit Clock Source: DS1 12
Secondary Master Transmit Clock Source: INTERNAL
