CM 4000 AccuSwitch Installation and Configuration
The CM 4000 Control Module is presently available for use with the Jupiter XPress or AccuSwitch applications. Note that
only one of these applications can be downloaded and executed in a single CM 4000 at one time.
Note: Unlike systems with Jupiter XPress, systems with AccuSwitch can include other processor types (e.g.: VM
3000, SI 3000, Saturn processors).
The AccuSwitch product, when connected to and operated by a suitable automation system, allows deterministic switching
of a Grass Valley Crosspoint Bus router, with each switch guaranteed to occur one frame after receipt of the automation system
switch command; and, allows a sustained switching rate of up to 200 physical crosspoint switches per frame.
CM 4000/AccuSwitch supported functions
S Automation interface
S JNS reboot, JNS clearpmem, activating a configuration from the JNS Control Center, JNS Router Control, JNS
RouterSaveRestore
S Basic switching from JNS Control Panel Suite (GUI control panel)
CM 4000/AccuSwitch non−supported functions
S JNS functions except those listed above (for a list of JNS functions, see page 4−1)
S Hardware control panels
S MI 3040 General Purpose / Tally Interfaces
S VTRs and other production machines
S Third−party routers
S Pathfinding, remote (non−Crosspoint Bus) routers, distributed routing, 3−stage routers, follow switching
S VGA status display
The AccuSwitch product follows SMPTE time code and assumes that all switch commands received from the automation
system are to be executed within the next 24 hours. Therefore the automation system must send switching commands no more
than 24 hours in advance.
As an option, a second CM 4000 can be connected using the BOP 4000 Redundancy Cable Kit and Breakout Panel and oper-
ated as a backup unit. For more information, see page 2−8.
The preferred time source for the CM 4000 is house SMPTE time code. Various other devices can be configured as backup
sources, but priority is always given to the SMPTE time code input. (The CM will run without time code, but not frame accu-
rately.) For more information, see page G−12.
Grass Valley recommends using automation systems which have been tested with AccuSwitch software. Currently supported
systems are:
