The idea is to synchronize first with another CM 4000 connected to a time code reader. This would keep the time within a
few milliseconds of time code.
If the TCR host does not respond, it will synchronize with a designated NTP server (some PC set up to perform that function).
If the house time code went bad, all CM 4000s could stay synchronized with a designated time server, which could itself be
synchronized to an accurate national standard.
Finally, if the first two hosts do not respond, a CM 4000 could be selected as the master and all CM 4000s synchronized to
it. While this would still allow time to drift it would force all CM 4000s to drift together.
In the final analysis, each time host is just an IP address and the CM 4000 will attempt to synchronize with each one in the
priority specified. Any valid IP address can be placed in each of the fields or each can be left empty (no synchronization).
Each facility is free to use this feature as it sees fit.
The “Time Zone Name” field is not used. It will accept any string eight characters or shorter.
The offset from GMT must be supplied so that the correct time is displayed. Time in the CM 4000 is always kept in UTC

internally. When time is displayed, it is shifted according the offset for the local time zone.
For daylight savings time, enter the month, day, and hour to start and stop. Currently if you do not want to adjust for daylight
savings, you must enter the same month, day, and hour for start and stop times.
